The Rockies placed right-handed starter Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. Chatwood is suffering from a right elbow strain, an injury he dealt with last season.

Taking Chatwood's place on the 25-man roster is right-handed reliever Chad Bettis, who will be available for Wednesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Chatwood departed Tuesday night's game in the sixth inning because of the elbow injury.

Chatwood missed five starts late last season because of a strained right elbow.

Bettis was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs last week and was replaced by Chris Martin in the Rockies' bullpen. Then, in his only appearance with the Sky Sox, Bettis on Monday threw two hitless innings — with 16 pitches (10 for strikes) and two strikeouts.
