"Two high-profile general-manager candidates are off the market, but a strong pool remains for vacancies with the Bears, Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams.
The Oakland Raiders announced they had reached an agreement with Green Bay Packers pro personnel director Reggie McKenzie to become their GM. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens announced player personnel director Eric DeCosta will remain with the team and not take any interviews, including one requested by the Bears.
DeCosta was the first person the Bears asked permission to speak with, but he was not — despite some reports — the favorite to land their GM job. The Rams and Colts also had requested to speak with DeCosta.
The Bears haven't been as
aggressive as the Rams or Colts so far. The Rams have requested permission to speak with more than a half-dozen candidates, and NFL.com reported they already have interviewed Miami Dolphins player personnel director Brian Gaine. And the Colts on Friday
interviewed New York Giants college-scouting director Marc Ross, who has an impressive pedigree."
