When Thad Matta added Virginia Tech big man transfer Trevor Thompson to Ohio State's roster in April, it was a move to solidify the Buckeyes' frontcourt in the future.

But Thompson didn't want to wait until the future to help. He wanted to help as soon as next year, so he filed a hardship waiver with the NCAA hoping he'd be granted immediate eligibility.

Thompson, however, hinted that his appeal was denied, so the 7-foot center won't be available to play for the Buckeyes until the 2015-16 season.
