As quiet as it has been kept, the Denver Broncos’ quarterback competition is all but over. All that’s left is for Broncos coach Vance Joseph to make a formal announcement.

Trevor Siemian has outperformed Paxton Lynch and he provided more evidence of that on Saturday in a 33-14 preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Siemian went 8-of-11 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown. Lynch, who got the start, finished his outing going 9-of-13 passing for 39 yards.

Combining Denver’s first two preseason games, Siemian is 14-of-18 passing for 144 yards to go with a touchdown pass for a 118.5 passer rating. Meanwhile, Lynch is 15-of-22 passing for 81 yards with zero touchdowns, resulting in a passer rating of 74.2.
