Tracy McGrady shows court savvy

"For most of his 15 years in the NBA Tracy McGrady hit three point baskets, drove to the basket and flipped 25-point games like a short-order cook flipping burgers - all the while doing it with a sly sleepy-eyed look.

He became T-Mac, a marketing and scoring machine who averaged better than 24 points per game for seven straight seasons.

He might become that again some day. But for now he'll settle for being the Pistons' best point guard.

McGrady isn't as speedy as he used to be, but he more than makes it up with savvy and a high basketball IQ.

If the idea is to win games and play at the Pistons' tempo, then the coach John Kuester should hand the starting point guard duties over to McGrady because he gives them the best chance to win.

McGrady brings an elusive attack, while Rodney Stuckey is more of a master blaster that bullies his way to the basket.

McGrady played 30 minutes and finished with 21 points and eight assists during the Pistons 104-92 victory Wednesday night over the Boston Celtics.

He played well in place of Stuckey (stomach flu), and appeared to be in command of the game, something that is happening more often.

McGrady embraces his resurgence, but doesn't appear to be too caught up in the recent success."
