Tottenham's record signing Erik Lamela faces a further six weeks out of action with a back injury, according to reports.

The Argentinian has endured a disastrous first season at White Hart Lane, and has made just three first team Premier League starts.

Now Lamela has suffered another setback after manager Tim Sherwood confirmed that he had suffered a back injury during his rehabilitation from a thigh complaint which has kept him out since Tottenham's 3-0 win over Stoke on December 29.

"Lamela had a thigh strain and he was over-compensating for that, so now he has got a problem in his back, which we are assessing and we are not too confident," Sherwood said. "It will be weeks.
