Reports in Italy say Spurs' record signing, who's only started three league games since joining, could be sent back to Serie A.

Tottenham have offered £30million misfit Erik Lamela in a swap deal with Mario Balotelli, according to Italian sports daily Tuttosport.

Spurs' record signing has started only three Premier League games and scored one Europa League goal since joining from Roma last summer.

The Argentine, 21, is currently out with a back injury.

The Italian report claims Tottenham's sporting director Franco Baldini, who worked with Lamela at Roma, is now working to send him back to Serie A - and bring in a new striker.
