Reports in Italy suggest the Turin giants see the Argentine as a key component of their assault on the Champions League next season.

Lamela has proved to be a major disappointment at White Hart Lane since his club record £30m move from Roma last season.

He was earmarked as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Gareth Bale, but made only 17 appearances and scored once as Spurs struggled without the Welshman.

After that dismal first campaign in north London, there have been suggestions Spurs may decide to cut their losses and sell the 22-year-old, with a host of Italian clubs thought to be interested in a deal.
