The 49ers are focused on signing veteran free-agent wide receiver Pierre Garcon to reunite him with new coach Kyle Shanahan, according to multiple reports.

Garcon, who will be 31 this season, played his last five seasons with Washington, including 2012-13 when Shanahan was Washington’s offensive coordinator. The 6-foot, 209-pound Garcon has put up solid numbers and could be the 49ers’ lead receiver, especially if he commands anywhere near a reported $16 million for the first year.

Garcon caught 79 passes for 1,041 yards and three touchdowns last season as a popular target of Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins, also reportedly a 49ers target.
