"Veteran LaDainian Tomlinson believes the Jets can have a dominant offense this season, although he admits the unit is a work in progress.

"I think we can be the top offense in the league, honestly," Tomlinson said Friday. "But with that said, we still have a long way to go."

Tomlinson added, "It's going to take many more practices and even game situations for us to jell and get comfortable and find out our roles in this offense, and what ways Schotty [offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer] is going to use all of us."

As for now, Tomlinson will start Sunday against Cincinnati, with anointed starter Shonn Greene sitting out because of a skin infection on his right foot.

The Jets are confident Greene will be back in action next week. The Jets' plan mostly is to use LT as a third-down back, but that would change if Greene had to miss significant time."
