Todd Bowles to interview for Raiders coaching job

"Dolphins interim head coach Todd Bowles will interview for the Raiders' head-coaching job today.

He went 2-1 for Miami after the Dolphins fired Tony Sparano on Dec. 12 and interviewed for the full-time job the day after the regular season ended. Former Titans coach Jeff Fisher is deciding between the Miami job and the St. Louis job.

Bowles, 48, interviewed for the Cowboys head-coaching job last offseason. He was a secondary coach in Dallas from 2005-08 before joining the Dolphins as an assistant head coach and secondary coach. He played eight seasons in the NFL as a defensive back for the Redskins and 49ers.

Meanwhile, two days after new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie told coach Hue Jackson that his services were no longer needed, Jackson said he feels owner Mark Davis was behind the move. Jackson said that he thinks his comments after the season-ending Chargers loss - in which he blasted the team's defensive players and coaches and then said he wanted "a stronger hand" in the organization - were misconstrued and that he regrets making them.

"I wish I could it take it back and say it differently so people could really understand what I was trying to say," Jackson told NFL Network. "I wasn't trying to say that I wanted to take total control of everything. When you work for the Raiders, you understand that Al Davis is first and foremost - you work for him. So I didn't get an opportunity to put everybody that I wanted on my staff or run the team to do with football operations the way that I see fit. I took the job, and I knew the parameters of the job, and I accepted that.""
