The Titans kicked off the 2013 season by kicking the Steelers scoring a 16-9 victory at Heinz Field that provided a big dose of optimism after a 6-10 finish a year ago.

The Titans had to overcome an atrocious start however.

Return man Darius Reynaud fielded the opening kickoff with his foot across the goal-line and inexplicably stepped back into the end zone. Officials ruled it a safety and the Titans trailed 2-0.

The Titans caught a break on Pittsburgh’s first drive of the game however as Steelers running back Isaac Redman fumbled into the end zone and Titans linebacker Zach Brown recovered.

The Titans then began to take control of the game.

They took a 7-2 lead late in the first half on Jackie Battle's three-yard touchdown run which capped a 12-play drive which saw the Titans run the ball 11 times.

The Titans extended the lead to 10-2 on a 26-yard field goal by Rob Bironas in the third quarter.
