"Since putting down roots in Nashville, the Titans have produced an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and a running back that rushed for more than 1,200 yards in his rookie season.
But as far as the immediate impact of an entire Titans rookie draft class, you'd have a hard time finding one that was more productive than the 2011 group.
Among its many accomplishments, the class featured three regular starters by season's end and also accounted for almost one quarter of the team's total tackles, more than a third of its tackles for losses, more than 40 percent of its sacks, and almost half its forced fumbles.
"There's not a class that comes to mind," said Coach Mike Munchak, who's been part of the Oilers/Titans organization for 27 years. "I don't know if we've really had as many guys contribute as much as we've had this year. As a full class, the contribution was much larger than we expected."
The class of 1999 comes to mind when many Titans fans think of rookies, as defensive end Jevon Kearse would earn defensive rookie of the year honors after collecting 14.5 sacks and making 85 tackles. But other rookie contributors were primarily limited to defensive tackle John Thornton (4.5 sacks) and guard Zach Piller (eight starts)."
