Titans, Chris Johnson remain far apart on contract terms

"Almost everything about Chris Johnson is fast, from his 40-yard dash time to his recent trips to Nashville. The holdout running back's face-to-face meeting with the Titans on Wednesday was also over in a hurry — less than two hours.

One thing about Johnson that's slow: the pace of his contract talks with the team. They're moving at snail's speed.

Johnson and agent Joel Segal met with the Titans for the first time during the almost month-long holdout, and finally got a contract offer. They didn't stick around to mull it over, however, with Johnson jetting back to Orlando, Fla., and Segal heading home as well.

That left Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt to explain via press release that the two sides remain far apart.

"It was important for us to have a face-to-face meeting so that everyone could have a voice and understand the perspective of the other side," Reinfeldt said. "I'm not sure there was any progress made, but I do think it was beneficial to meet. We were able to discuss several different elements of a potential contract, but there was no agreement on those topics. I do expect to have another conversation with Joel in the next day or so to discuss things further.""
