Veteran return man Josh Cribbs is Indianapolis-bound. The Colts announced his signing Tuesday afternoon.

Cribbs was in Indianapolis last week where he had what an NFL source described as an impressive workout.

But coach Chuck Pagano said at the time the workout was more or less a routine check-in with a player the team was keeping tabs on. That appears to have changed in the past week, however, after today's news, which was first reported by Fox Sports Ohio.

Cribbs has been a free agent since last season, when he spent time with the Raiders and Jets. But he still is remembered fondly for his success with the Cleveland Browns from 2005-12. During that period Cribbs had eight kickoff-return and three punt-return touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier returners.
