"David Wright could be ready to begin playing baseball again.

Manager Terry Collins spoke with Wright on Friday, and said the third baseman has progressed to the point he likely will begin playing minor league rehab games on Wednesday. That's contingent upon Wright, who is recovering from a stress fracture in his back, running the bases without any problems tomorrow.

Wright would need 30-40 at-bats in the minor leagues to prepare for his return to the Mets. That would put Wright on a timetable to perhaps return for the Mets' next road trip, which begins July 22 at Florida. Wright hasn't played a game in nearly two months."
