After his latest bout of control trouble Sunday, prospective Detroit Tigers closer Bruce Rondon will skip his next exhibition outing and instead throw a session in the bullpen to work on his mechanics.

"We saw a couple of things on tape that he is doing differently than last year," pitching coach Jeff Jones said before today's exhibition against the Houston Astros. "We talked with him this morning and showed him the tape."

Jones said that, after the bullpen session, Rondon will resume pitching in exhibitions.

Tigers officials decided to have Rondon throw the bullpen session after he was hit hard and experienced more wildness as he gave up two runs in one inning against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.

Here are the 22-year-old's totals for the spring: four games, 3 2/3 innings, five hits, three earned runs, five walks, six strikeouts. His ERA is 7.36.

Note: Korea beat Australia, 6-0, today at the World Baseball Classic. Tigers prospect Warwick Saupold did not pitch for the Aussies.
