It's supposed to be in the 50s today when the Tigers play the Braves at their spring training complex near Disney. It was cold Saturday, too.

"I can't remember the last time it was this cold down here," manager Jim Leyland said.

Max Scherzer can't either, though it might remind him of the weather the last time he pitched. That was back in Detroit, in Game 4 of the World Series. He didn't pitch badly that night -- he gave up three runs on seven hits in six 1/3 innings, but it wasn't the Scherzer who dominated in August and parts of September, before his strained deltoid muscle.

Today, Scherzer takes the mound for the first time since then. He would "prefer it be warm," he said, "but you gotta throw it."
