Austin Jackson ran around the bases so much against the Blue Jays that it got him out of running afterward with strength and conditioning coordinator Javair Gillett.

Jackson scored three runs as the Tigers beat Toronto, 4-2, on Friday at Joker Marchant Stadium. Jackson had a walk, a stolen base, a double and a triple.

Last year, there were daily questions in spring training about Jackson's batting stance. He had been making contact with the ball this spring, even if he didn't have a lot of hits to show for it.

"I was just glad I was putting the bat on the ball," Jackson said. "The important thing in spring training is, you don't want to get too caught up in a stat or if you're getting hits. It's about getting that timing and make sure you're seeing the ball and having good at-bats, rather than the result."
