There's never a good time for injuries, of course.

There are worse times than others for them, however.

Losing Austin Jackson and Alex Avila before you play — for the last time this season — the team you are trying to catch appears to be one of those times.

The good news is this: It could have been worse.

Jackson might be able to play today in the makeup against the White Sox if he can get his sore left ankle to loosen up before the game. It only got worse overnight, however, after he jammed it against the fence in center on an attempted catch Saturday.

"When I woke up, it was pretty tight," he said.
