Three Reds named All-Stars

"At 40, Reds reliever Arthur Rhodes will make his first All-Star appearance on July 13 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

He joins Brandon Phillips and Scott Rolen as Reds players who will represent the National League.

Rhodes is 3-2 with a 1.09 ERA in 37 appearances for the Reds this season. Rhodes went 33 appearances and 30 innings without allowing a run this season.

Rhodes dedicated his selection to his late son, Jordan, who was 5 when he died of an illness two years ago.

"I did it for my little boy," Rhodes said. "He's up in heaven. I'm emotional right now."

"He deserves it more than anybody," Phillips said of Rhodes. "The man was in tears. I didn't think the angry man could cry.""
