"Alec Burks and Klay Thompson have gotten to know each other recently.
Considered the top two shooting guards in Thursday's NBA draft, Burks and Thompson faced off for the third time in a predraft workout Saturday at the Kings' practice facility.
Burks was diplomatic but didn't lack confidence when asked how the workout went.
"I feel like I did good all the times," Burks said with a smile.
Thompson conceded Saturday that Burks' team had the edge in the three-on-three competition.
"One on one, I felt like I held my own," Thompson said. "We scored on each other a couple times. It was almost a draw."
Both are trying to interest the Kings enough to be picked seventh overall, but shooting guard isn't the team's biggest need, with restricted free agent Marcus Thornton likely back next season.
Burks (6-foot-6) and Thompson (6-7) are taller than Thornton, and both are prolific scorers. It's how they score that differs.
Burks, who averaged 20.5 points as a sophomore for Colorado last season, excels at getting to the basket.
Thompson, one of the best perimeter shooters available, averaged 21.6 points as a junior at Washington State. He made 39.8 percent of his three-point shots last season.
But both want to show they are more than scorers.
Burks said he can play point guard and small forward.
"I'm a combo two (guard)," Burks said. "Since I'm 6-6, I'm a two, but I can play the one or the three if I have to."
Thompson also has tried to show his versatility during workouts."
