"The 49ers' search for a third tight end has ended with one-time Atlanta Falcon Justin Peelle. The team signed Peelle (6-foot-4, 251 pounds) to a one-year deal Tuesday and released sixth-round pick Colin Jones.
The 49ers have an open spot on their practice squad, and Jones is eligible for it.
Peelle, who is from Fresno and played at Oregon, was drafted originally by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round in 2002. He also has played for the Miami Dolphins and Falcons, who acquired him in 2008, the same season running back Michael Turner rushed for 1,699 yards."
