Third Packers loss spoils Jennings' big day

"Having his best game of the season Sunday was kind of like having the winning Powerball numbers . . . and then finding out the ticket only brought in $100.

Big whoop-de-do.

Green Bay receiver Greg Jennings didn't care about his heart-stopping 86-yard touchdown reception, the longest of his career and the longest as well for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

And he sure didn't have much regard for his 133-yard day, which also happened to be the first 100-yard game for any Packers receiver this season.

The only number he had in mind was three, as in how many losses the Packers have after dropping an overtime game to Miami, 23-20.

"It means nothing with a loss," said Jennings. "We all want to win. And that's not what is taking place right now. We've got to get back in the win column. Period."

Common sense says it will be up to Jennings and Rodgers to do it. It took an all-out launch by Rodgers to throw the ball halfway down the field and a great catch by Jennings, who then darted left of the defense for a race to the end zone.

Perhaps the two will have to look back to Green Bay football three years ago - when the Packers managed to win and score before they ever had tight end Jermichael Finley.

"Three years ago. That's an eternity," said offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.

It sure feels that way.

Green Bay's production hasn't lived up to anyone's expectations, and Jennings was searching for answers.

"We need to make some changes and do some things better as a unit," said Jennings.

He expressed frustration in nearly every failing offensive category.

"We've got to start making plays," said Jennings. "Defense is on the field too much. We are putting ourselves into third-down situations that are almost unforgivable. You can't overcome those situations."

Really, the Packers had such a poor offensive showing against Miami.

Rodgers was sacked five times and was battered around like a piƱata, getting hit 10 times (hello Cameron Wake)."
