That the Texans probably won't even think about acquiring him speaks volumes about the organization's timidity and lack of creative thinking. But you already knew that.

This is the kind of idea Bob McNair should be ordering his people to consider. Why would it be a good idea? Why would it be a bad idea? Could Young help us win?

Great organizations think big, and occasionally, they think outside the box. They don't run scared from decisions that might stir debate.

The Philadelphia Eagles surprised the NFL two years ago by signing Michael Vick at a time when they already had a proven veteran quarterback (Donovan McNabb) and a gifted young backup (Kevin Kolb).

And Vick came with enough baggage that the Eagles knew they were going to be dealing with issues apart from football. They did it anyway because they believed Vick might add an interesting dimension to their offense.

Eagles coach Andy Reid, who has been to the playoffs nine times in 12 seasons as head coach in Philadelphia, trusted the strength and maturity of his locker room to deal with whatever Vick brought with him. That's what leaders do.

The Eagles got more than they could have dreamed of out of Vick, and there's a lesson in there for every team.
