"The Texas Rangers have prided themselves in developing their own talent in building a World Series-caliber organization. That stretches across all departments, from players to coaches to scouts. Promoting from within held true on Tuesday, as the team announced several promotions and hires in the scouting department, as well as a few others in different departments.
Among the more notables are professional scout Greg Smith becoming a special assistant, major league scout; Jim Colborn goes from director to senior adviser of Pacific Rim operations; central crosschecker Mike Grouse, who has spent 20 years in the organization, becomes national crosschecker; and amateur scout Randy Taylor, going into his 25th year with Texas, is now the Midwest crosschecker."
