"Free-agent center fielder Andruw Jones worked out last week at the Ballpark in Arlington, and the Texas Rangers are interested in signing the 10-time Gold Glove winner.
General manager Jon Daniels confirmed that Jones, who batted a meager .158 last season, worked with hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. A contract would likely be a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.
The Dodgers released Jones last month after his only season in Los Angeles. He reported to spring training overweight, had knee surgery in May, and was on the bench as the Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series.
The Rangers, though, could use another big right-handed bat; Jones hit 51 homers in 2005 and 41 more in 2006. But he would have trouble finding a spot in the lineup every day."
