San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Eric Rogers will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in practice Thursday, head coach Chip Kelly announced Friday.

Rogers, a former CFL standout with the Calgary Stampeders, landed with the 49ers this offseason after fielding offers from a number of NFL teams.

While the transition from north of the border is often difficult, Rogers had seemingly entered his rookie camp with an opportunity to earn a role in the 49ers' receiver rotation.
