Mark Teixeira's return to the Yankees lineup was a success last night — and not just because he homered in his second at-bat.

"I felt good, and I was lucky I didn't have to test it," Teixeira said of the strained left calf that kept him out of the lineup for more than three weeks. "There were no hard sprints."

Teixeira's two-run homer capped a nine-run second inning in a 10-2 win over the Red Sox that put the Yankees back alone on top of the AL East when the Orioles lost.
