"Add Terrell Owens to the long list of Bengals players who have seen their season end early due to injury.
Owens suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee early in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Browns and said he is out for the team's final two games. If Owens is placed on injured reserve, he would be the 16th Bengal placed on it and it would mark the first time in his 17-year career that has happened.
"It's just one of those things," said Owens, who was walking on crutches in a mostly empty locker room after the game.
Owens originally suffered the injury two weeks ago against New Orleans and didn't practice the Wednesday leading into the Pittsburgh game. Last week he didn't practice on Wednesday or Friday and was limited on Thursday. He said he will get a second opinion this week before deciding on a further course of treatment.
After the Bengals' sixth offensive play of the game, Owens limped to the sidelines with 8:21 remaining in the first quarter after planting the leg the wrong way. He then left for the locker room on a cart later in the quarter.
"There isn't any swelling. It's just one of those freak things that happened," Owens said. "I played that entire game and I played it last week."
It will also mark the first games he will miss due to injury since suffering a severely sprained ankle and fractured fibula in 2004 while with the Eagles. Coincidentally he was injured on a horse-collar tackle by former Cowboys and current Bengals safety Roy Williams. Owens did return to play in the Super Bowl."
