Tayshaun Prince plans to move Pistons 'back in right direction'

"Sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

For Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince, while many people deemed his departure via free agency a foregone conclusion, it was anything but.

"When everything started going south for us from most of y'all's perspective, the first thing on Tayshaun's mind is he's going to get out of here," Prince said Saturday in his first comments after re-signing with the only NBA team he's ever known — the Pistons.

The determining factors for Prince, who agreed Thursday to a four-year, $27 million deal to remain in Detroit, were his familiarity with Pistons president Joe Dumars and his vision.

"The most important thing is I know I have a lot left in this tank," said Prince, who averaged 14.1 points and 4.2 rebounds last season, his ninth. "I knew that if I was able to come back here, I could kinda re-establish and move things back in the right direction.""
