"Jason Taylor has been doing his best to low-key things this week, but he'll be jumping out of his skin at game time tonight when he and the Jets play his former team, the Dolphins.
Taylor said he has "no idea" what kind of reception he'll get.
"I would expect, because I play for the Jets, they won't be very happy," he said. "It's their home opener and they're Dolphins fans, so I would expect ... oh, hell, maybe I hope it's just mixed. Whatever. Obviously everyone wants to be cheered, but I understand I'm the road team and the bitter rival, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear boos."
Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said he's not worried about Taylor being overly emotional in the game.
"Knowing him, he'll get over the emotions of it quickly and settle down and play football," Pettine said. "I know any type of homecoming like that, especially where you've the amount of time that he did and did the amount of quality work that he did down there for that franchise, I think it will be a special night.""
