"The Blackhawks' latest victory was one for the record books.

Cristobal Huet was in goal Wednesday for the 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues, a Central Division battle played before a season-high 21,137 at the United Center. Coupled with Antti Niemi's 4-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, the Hawks have their first back-to-back shutouts since Jocelyn Thibault handcuffed the Detroit Red Wings and Atlanta Thrashers in consecutive games in 2002.

The Huet-Niemi accomplishment is even more special than that. The Hawks haven't had back-to-back shutouts by two goaltenders since Tony Esposito and Murray Bannerman provided the saves in 1983.

''The nicest thing is that it was with two different guys,'' said defenseman Brian Campbell, who delivered one of the goals -- his first since Oct. 3. ''We can keep rolling every night. We have a lot of confidence.''

Niemi has three shutouts in seven starts this season, and Huet has two in 25.

''Anytime we can move up in the standings, whether it's me or Antti, it doesn't matter,'' said Huet, who made 27 saves and took on a clearly frustrated Cam Janssen in the final minute after taking a poke from him in front of the net.

''You don't want to see a guy going after your goaltender, but it's always tough against St. Louis,'' Campbell said. ''They had played back-to-back games and were obviously frustrated, and we didn't let up on them.''"
