Stortini set free by Oilers

"Edmonton Oilers winger Zack Stortini is officially a free agent on Friday.

The Oilers elected not to send him a qualifying offer to keep his rights, so he joins the marketplace along with J.F. Jacques, who was also set free.

The team did send qualifying offers to Ladislav Smid, Andrew Cogliano, Theo Peckham, Taylor Chorney and Ryan O'Marra.

Stortini, who cleared waivers in February, spent the last 2- months on their AHL farm team in Oklahoma City. He made $880,000 last season on a one-way contract. He has played 256 games for the Oilers since they drafted him in 2003."
