"The Carolina Panthers are ending a lackluster season with an almost stunning display of proficiency against what had looked like a difficult stretch of opponents.
In the New York Giants' final regular season game at Giants Stadium, the Panthers stole the show with a 41-9 win that featured a 206yard rushing perforance by Joanthan Stewart.
Stewart set a team single-game record for most rushing yards in a game and went over 1,000 yards for the season, making him and DeAngelo Williams the sixth pair of teammates to hit the 1,000-yard mark in the same season.
Williams didn't play Sunday because of an ankle injury. He has 1,117 yards and Stewart's season total is up to 1,008
The Panthers scored 40 points in a game for the first time since beating Atlanta 44-11 on Jan. 1, 2006.
The victory came one week after Carolina surprised Minnesota 26-7 at Bank of America Stadium.
The dual upset wins assure Carolina (7-8) of avoid the first season with double-digit losses in coach John Fox's eight seasons with the team."
