Steve Nash, Grant Hill lead Suns past Thunder

"After a six-player trade that transpired one day earlier, Phoenix was without its three new acquisitions Sunday night against the first-place Thunder.

What the Suns still did have were the services of future hall-of-famers Steve Nash and Grant Hill, who stepped to the forefront in a 113-110 survival that snapped the Thunder's five-game winning streak before a sellout crowd of 18,203 inside Oklahoma City Arena.

The 38-year-old Hill finished with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds. "I don't know how he does it, and he looked as good as he's ever looked," Thunder coach Scott Brooks afterward.

The 36-year-old Nash added 20 points (7 for 9 from the field; 2 for 2 from 3-point range) and 10 assists. "Everybody knows why he's a good point guard," Brooks said. "He just makes plays and he was consistently making good plays tonight."

On Saturday, the Suns traded guard Jason Richardson, forward Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark to the Magic in exchange for swingman Mickael Pietrus and center Marcin Gortat. Because traded players must first pass physical exams before joining their new teams, Phoenix was three players short against the Thunder.

The Suns (13-13) were nearly also without Nash, who seems to have recovered nicely from a neck "stinger" he suffered in the first quarter while being knocked out Friday night's loss at Dallas."
