"It might be time to try something different.
Even the officials are tired of watching Monta Ellis in isolation sets at the end of quarters and games.
Video replays clearly showed that George Hill's right foot kicked the ball on Ellis' dribble with 3.9 seconds remaining Friday. The officials didn't call a kicking-the-ball violation, and Hill raced to the other end of the court for a three-point play that gave Indiana a 94-91 victory over the Warriors at Oracle Arena.
"It was a tough missed call," head coach Mark Jackson said. "He clearly kicked the basketball. The referees felt that it wasn't intentional, but obviously it was.
"At the end of the day, I don't blame the referees. I blame our guys. We've got to be a better team than we've been. That's just not going to cut it."
Ellis' isolations in end-of-quarter and end-of-game situations might not cut it much longer, either. He missed a last-second shot in the Warriors' 88-87 loss to Utah and failed to even attempt a shot at the end of regulation the next game against Miami."
