Less than 18 hours after CC Sabathia returned from the disabled list to pitch a scoreless outing, Hiroki Kuroda followed the ace with an equally impressive performance.

Buoyed by the Yankees' four-run first inning, Kuroda pitched seven shutout innings in a rain-shortened complete game yesterday, earning the win in a 6-0 victory over the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.

It was the fifth time this season Kuroda has held the opponent scoreless while pitching at least seven innings, the most such starts by an AL pitcher. He improved to 7-3 with a 2.68 ERA at home and 4-0 with 30 shutout innings in four daytime games.
