Chasson Randle scored 18 points as the host Cardinal soared past the Trojans in Pac-12 play.

Josh Huestis grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds to go with 11 points and three blocked shots for Stanford (17-8, 8-5), which has won four of its past five games. Dwight Powell scored 14 points and Anthony Brown added 13 for the Cardinal.

Pe’Shon Howard scored 13 points and Julian Jacobs added 11 for USC (10-16, 1-12), which has lost seven straight games and 12 of 13. The Trojans shot just 36.2 percent from the field and were without leading scorer Byron Wesley, who didn’t make the trip to the Bay Area due to an unspecified violation of team rules.

USC trailed by nine with just over 13 minutes remaining before Stanford rolled off the next eight, capped by Powell’s basket. The Cardinal later rattled off 13 consecutive points to build the advantage to 72-47 on Powell’s three-point play with 5:05 remaining

Stanford shot just 28.6 percent in the first half but managed to hold a 32-23 lead as the Trojans weren’t much better at 34.6 percent. The Cardinal increased their lead to 12 on Powell’s basket with 14 1/2 minutes remaining.
