"If you are the St. Louis Rams, why make a move with QB Marc Bulger now?

He is under contract, and when the new league year opens this Friday, the Rams don't owe Bulger anything-no bonus money at all.

He is still free labor for them until the actual 2010 season starts, where he is due $8.5 million. My point in simple here: the Rams can play a waiting game. Sure, this is not going to be in favor of Bulger or his agent, but as Howard Balzer pointed out in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, head coach Steve Spagnuolo has said that a decision does not have to be made now.

Think about it. The Rams-depending on who you listen to-will go after either Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford or one of two defensive tackles, Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy of Oklahoma, with the No.1 overall pick in this April's draft.

But, in terms of draft stock, pro days and free agency-that is a lifetime away."
