Tottenham Hotspur could make an audacious move to sign Aly Cissokho from under the noses of Liverpool, [football] direct news understands.

The French left-back is currently at Anfield on a season-long loan deal from Spanish side Valencia, but is attracting interest from other clubs after an impressive spell in the Premier League.

Although Cissokho is keeping his options open, Liverpool are believed to be keen on signing the 26-year-old permanently in the summer, and will likely be the favourites to do so.

However, Tottenham are also in the market for a left-back, and have now identified Cissokho as a possible option for that position, in a move that would also see them weaken one of their rivals.
