Tottenham have confirmed the £30million signing of Roma star Erik Lamela.

The Argentina forward had a medical on Thursday and will be one of the candidates to fill the void when Gareth Bale departs.

Earlier on Friday Spurs sealed an £8.5m deal for Romania defender Vlad Chiriches from side Steaua Bucharest. Both will be available for Sunday's north London derby against Arsenal.

The Romania centre half has joined £8.5million and will add cover to Spurs' back-line after England defender Steven Caulker joined Premier League new boys Cardiff City.

Chiriches played 62 times for Steaua during a two-year period at the club and he has made 19 appearances for his country.

The defender is Tottenham's fifth signing of a busy summer which has seen the north London club spend £67million in the market.
