"Rockets forward Jordan Hill sent a pair of tweets on Friday about personal "family issues." He did not elaborate on Saturday, but said they have been bothering him on and off the court.
In the first he wrote "Pray for me." In the second, he sent "Just been stressed out lately and trying to hold it in and continue to fight it … the man up above gonna work it out for me."
"I'm OK, just a little stressed out," Hill said. "Family issues have bothered me. I'm trying to fight it, but it's nothing I can't handle. Just keep doing what I'm doing."
Hill said there have been demands on him, especially in recent weeks.
"Just family contacting me," Hill said. "That's what families do. I knew it was going to happen as soon as I got here. Heard some hurtful things, saw some hurtful things. I expect it, but what can I do? You expect it, but it's family, some family members that you're real close with. It's going to hurt.
"I've been dealing with it for a few weeks now. I was dealing with it on the court, but I try to block everything out and concentrate on the floor."
For all the differences between the seasons of the Rockets and Spurs, their comparative success in close games indicates a great deal about their strengths and weakness. The Spurs are 6-1 in games decided by three points or fewer; the Rockets are 2-5. In games decided by seven points or fewer, the Spurs are 14-2; the Rockets are 6-16.
The Spurs' offensive style is much more up-tempo. Their ability to execute down the stretch might be the key to the league's best record."
