Tottenham are set to leapfrog a host of top European clubs by landing Japan sensation Keisuke Honda in January on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old forward whose contract with Russian side CSKA Moscow expires on December 31 is a target for a number of leading clubs.

Juventus Monaco and Liverpool are all known to be keen on signing Honda while AC Milan nearly agreed a £5million deal to buy him over the summer.

However Andre Villas-Boas has been patient and is now ready to bring in the exciting frontman for nothing on January 1.
