"Randy Moss hasn't had a big impact on a Tennessee Titans game yet, but since the chiseled wide receiver joined the team, his No. 84 has been the top-selling Titans jersey, at least at the NFL's official online store.

Locally, sporting goods retailers saw an initial spike in interest and sales of Moss' jerseys after the Titans acquired him earlier this month. And leading up to this Sunday's first Titans home game since Moss' arrival, they expect another run-up in sales, a boost that could be extended if Moss has a breakout performance.

"We've never had anything quite like this," said Kristopher Smith, merchandise manager at the Titans Pro Shop inside LP Field, referring to the team's mid-season signing of Moss, a possible NFL Hall of Famer.

On Sunday's game day, the store (operated by concessionaire Centerplate) plans to display Moss jerseys at all of its 18 merchandise locations across the stadium."We just want to make sure we take advantage of the opportunity for people that want it," Smith said.

Several dozens of Moss jerseys were sold for $87, plus tax, on the first two days after they arrived in-store last week, and since then sales have held steady.

The Sport Seasons store off Nashville's White Bridge Road, one of six in the chain statewide, sold its initial stock of more than a dozen Moss jerseys quickly last week, said Peter Thomashefski, assistant manager. More jerseys were brought in and are prominently displayed behind the front counter."
