Wasn't it just about a week ago that people were saying the Senators need more from Jason Spezza?

Well, they're sure getting it now.

Spezza had three more points Saturday night — including the game-tying goal with 36 seconds left and help on the winner five ticks from the final buzzer — to give him six in his past two games and seven in his past three.

With 11 points through eight outings, not only is he the Senators' top point-getter but he is also challenging for the NHL scoring lead.

"Jason has been a very consistent player for us," coach Paul MacLean said after the dramatic, 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets Saturday. "He's really working hard at being a complete player, and I think it has shown in all the games. His shift lengths are always at a good number, he's shooting the puck a bit more than maybe in the past ... he's been taking a leadership role in the face off responsibilities ... I've been very pleased with how Jason has played."
