"Jake Peavy fulfilled his hopes Thursday night in his rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte.

Peavy, recovering from a right groin strain, threw 78 pitches in six innings of two-hit ball with nine strikeouts against Syracuse.

Peavy will rejoin the team in Phoenix to continue his workouts and rehab with the expectation he will be pitching for the Sox no later than next weekend.
