"Jake Peavy, a little more than a year removed from surgery on a detached latissimus dorsi muscle, apparently will not pitch the rest of the season for the White Sox.
"He has been shut down, he's finished for the year," pitching coach Don Cooper said after Saturday's 7-3, 10-inning victory over Cleveland.
Manager Ozzie Guillen had no comment on the record and Peavy departed the locker room before the media could enter.
The move is no surprise because Peavy has admitted he has been pitching with a tired arm."
