"According to a number of major league sources, the Rangers' management hierarchy met with free agent 1B Prince Fielder and his agent, Scott Boras, Friday afternoon at a local hotel.

Among those in the Rangers contingent were GM Jon Daniels, assistant GM Thad Levine, CEO Nolan Ryan and manager Ron Washington.

Boras is believed to still be seeking an eight- to 10-year deal for Fielder, 27, who is one of baseball's most productive left-handed sluggers. The Rangers are not likely to go to eight guaranteed years for any player."
