"The Ravens announced today the signing of veteran wide receiver Donte' Stallworth to a one-year contract.
The team made the announcement on its Web site.
The 29-year-old Stallworth missed the 2009 season after he was suspended by the NFL for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Stallworth on Sunday and he was released by the Cleveland Browns on Monday.
Stallworth, 6-foot and 200 pounds, has played seven seasons in the NFL. He was originally a first-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2002. In addition to the Saints and Browns, Stallworth has played for the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.
"We've given a lot of thought to this and we've done extensive research into Donte' beyond football," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome told the team's Web site. "He made a huge mistake. There's no doubt about that. He has paid a significant price for that and, as he has said, he carries a heavy weight. As Steve (Bisciotti) has said, we believe in second chances, and Donte' does deserve that."
